#BarJohnLee
In early 2023, U.S.-sanctioned Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee expressed his desire to be in San Francisco for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting scheduled for November.
As Hong Kong is seeing a devastating increase in political persecution, we will continue to pave the way to a free Hong Kong.
What We Did
We started the #BarJohnLee campaian in May, where Anna first called for the Biden Administration not to grant John Lee a sanctions waiver to come to the U.S. in the C.E.C.C. hearing entitled "One City, Two Legal Systems: Political Prisoners and the Erosion of the Rule of Law in Hong Kong"
Our call led to a strong bipartisan, bicameral letter from Congress to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on June 7 urging him not to invite John Lee
